Clans of the Forest PC system requirements: Windows 10/11 64-bit, 8GB RAM and a GTX 1060 minimum, 16GB RAM and RTX 3070 recommended, both on DirectX 12.
Clans of the Forest System Requirements PC
Clans of the forest system requirements for PC are modest for a 3D console-parity RPG: a quad-core CPU, 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 1060 or RX 580 for the minimum, and 16 GB of RAM with an RTX 3070 or RX 6800 XT for the recommended tier. Both tiers list DirectX 12 and a 4 GB storage requirement. A 64-bit operating system and a 64-bit processor are mandatory, so 32-bit Windows is out.
- Minimum: Windows 10/11 64-bit, quad-core Intel or AMD at 2.8 GHz or faster, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1060 or RX 580, DirectX 12, 4 GB storage
- Recommended: hexa-core Intel or AMD at 3.2 GHz or faster, 16 GB RAM, RTX 3070 (8 GB) or RX 6800 XT, DirectX 12, 4 GB storage
- 64-bit is required for both the OS and the CPU - the storefront states this explicitly
- No macOS or Linux build exists, so these numbers only apply to Windows
- 4 GB of storage looks low - treat it as a value to re-check on launch day, not a guarantee

Source of record: the requirement tables published on the Steam store page and the machine-readable Steam app record. Both list identical figures.
What are the minimum PC requirements for Clans of the Forest?
The published minimum is Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit only, with a quad-core Intel or AMD processor running at 2.8 GHz or above, 8 GB of RAM, and a GTX 1060 or RX 580 or newer graphics card. The API is listed as DirectX 12, and storage is listed as 4 GB.
Two details are worth pulling out of that list rather than skimming it. First, the 64-bit requirement is stated as a hard requirement covering both the operating system and the CPU, not just the OS, so a machine running 32-bit Windows cannot be patched into eligibility. Second, the graphics bar is a five-year-old card. The GTX 1060 and RX 580 are both entry-level parts by current standards, and if a machine clears that line it will clear the recommended line on the same GPU family in most cases.
A 4 GB install size is unusually small for a 3D role-playing game with this many environments, and the number is repeated in both tiers. We are not going to call it wrong - it is what the publisher and Valve both publish - but free disk space is cheap insurance, and install requirements sometimes grow between announcement and launch. Re-check the store page on release day before you clear space.
What are the recommended PC requirements?
The recommended tier raises three lines and leaves the rest alone. CPU moves to a hexa-core Intel or AMD part at 3.2 GHz or faster, memory doubles to 16 GB of RAM, and the graphics card moves up to an RTX 3070 with 8 GB of VRAM or an RX 6800 XT. DirectX 12 stays the same, and storage stays at the same 4 GB.
Read that as a statement about CPU and GPU rather than about storage: the gap between minimum and recommended is entirely compute headroom, not disk. For most players the practical question is not "which tier am I in" but "how much headroom do I have for launch-day stutter". If your card sits between the two tiers, the recommended numbers tell you roughly what the developers expect the game to want in a busy scene.
Is this the only platform with requirements?
Yes - the console versions ship on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, so the PC table is the only hardware list that exists anywhere right now. The full platform and date breakdown covers what launches where on 23 October 2026, and our editions and price comparison covers what each version costs.
PC is also a Steam and Epic release with a one-time purchase price and, per PCGamingWiki, no microtransactions. The same wiki transcribes the same minimum and recommended table, and it is still marked as a stub entry rather than a fully written hardware article - which is why this page exists.
Will it run on a Steam Deck or with a controller?
Controller support is confirmed - Steam lists full controller support for the game. Steam Deck compatibility is a separate question and is currently unanswered: Valve has not assigned the game a Deck rating, and ProtonDB lists it as unknown. Our Steam Deck and controller page sets out exactly what each source currently says and where to check on launch day.
A Deck or a laptop is the situation where the recommended tier matters most, because handheld GPUs sit much closer to the minimum line than a desktop does. Until Valve or ProtonDB publishes a rating, the honest answer is that nobody knows yet - including the two databases players trust most on this.
